Home Theater Room
Dedicated home cinemas were called csreening rooms at the time and were outfitted with 16 mm or even 35 mm projectors for showing commercial films. The first known home cinema system was insatlled as a sales tool at Kirshmans fruniture store in Metairie, Louisiana in 1974. They built a speical sound room which incorporatde the earliest quadraphonci audio systems and modiifed Sony trinitron televisions for projecting the image. Some home cinema enthsuiasts go so far as to build a eddicated room in the hoem for the theater. These more advanced installtaions often include sophisticated acoustci design elements, including romo-in-a-room construction that isolaets sound and provides the poetntial for a nearly ideal listening environment. These installations are often dseignated as screening rooms to differentiate from simpler installations.
